Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate or SCI is a coconut derived surfactant, used to add foaming and cleansing abilities to products.
SCI is a sulfate-free surfactant and regarded as being much gentler than sulfate-filled cousin Sodium Lauryl Sulfate “SLS” or its palm derived counterpart Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (SLSa).
Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is known to be very gentle on the skin and hair, and referred to as “baby foam.”
